Yesterday morning I was procrastinating.

I know, I know. I had a list and I should have been doing it but I just wasn’t mentally ready to be writing the curriculum/handout for one of my upcoming classes at Handi Quilter Academy. (BTW. . . I did get that done, too!!!!)
So there I was sitting on my couch when I just got the urge to make a shamrock. So I did. That only took about 2 minutes. Then I decided it needed to be an Edge to Edge design so I came up with the traditional Clamshell design. That took about 30 minutes. Then I wanted to make another. Another 30+ minutes. Then the text art. Another 20 minutes. At least.
At 8:30 last night I decided to start a project. I like to have fancy pillows on my bed because with two dogs I just use cheap comforters. It is super easy to make decorative pillows on the longarm.
Here’s what I did:
Make an area 21″ tall x 32″ long (for a king size pillow)
Fill that area with my Easy No Touch Shamrock Clamshell Edge to Edge design. I stitched it out with a green variegated thread that I bought in Maine from Sanford Sewing a couple years ago.
Then I did File> Close Selected to get rid of the E2E and realigned the Area to what I had actually stitched out.
I opened the basic shamrock and got it situated how I wanted it. I laid green fabric on top of the already quilted area and allowed the shamrock to stitch out. Then I trimmed around it. This is called Raw Edge Applique.
Then I set up the word art where I wanted it, laid down the dark green fabric and allowed the word art to stitch out.
I did NOT trim the word art on the frame because I knew it was going to take a while. I took it off, trimmed the edges of the project and dealt with all the trimming.
Then I added an envelope back, flipped and pressed and that’s all it takes.
The files I used to make the project are now available for purchase in the Shoppe and you can use them to make a pillow or for a quilt or whatever you dream up. Just remember- I would love to see a photo!
