Make a Flip and Stitch Pillow Cover

It is not often lately that I post a project that you can do ENTIRELY ON A DOMESTIC SEWING MACHINE. A beginning sewist can do this project and really have fun doing it. All you need are some scraps (longish) of fabric, a piece of batting, some ugly or plain fabric for the back (which is not necessary but helps avoid stretching, and a couple pieces of fabric for the back of the pillow. Oh yeah. . . and a pillow!

There is NO PATTERN. You are going to improvise and just make it work. If a strip of fabric isn’t long enough, you can sew two pieces together. THERE ARE NO RULES.

I know you will “bee” wondering about the gorgeous fabrics I am using. They are from a line called Bee Haven by Rachel Rossi. The line is available from Benartex, so make sure you ask your local quilt shop if they are carrying it. I especially love the purples and blues in the line- they are really lovely.

I filmed myself making the pillow and the video is on YouTube so that you can watch it and make your own pillow cover.
