Have you ever seen an idea and wanted to make it but just couldn’t seem to get it moved to the top of the list? That would be this quilt for me. In 2018 Heidi Kory designed this quilt for The Electric Quilt Company. I was already an EQ8 user in 2018 so I saw it and immediately fell in love. I took a screen shot of the quilt (but not any of the information) and have kept it around for the last 6 years.
Until a few weeks ago.
I woke up one day and decided, “Today is the day.” I started gathering and buying fabric and redesigned the quilt on EQ8 because I wanted to change it up a bit. All my fabrics came from shops in southern Maine. I was participating in the All New England Shop Hop, so I got to visit quite a few shops that were new to me along with some old favorites.
About 75% through the quilt I came across the quilt again on the internet and was able to follow it back to its source- so I will share it with you. I changed things up a bit, but nothing earth shattering.

I finished the quilt on September 18, 2024 and this week it had a photoshoot- in a couple different apple orchards.
The pantograph is called Easy Clamshell Echo by Barbie Mills of The Quilting Mill. It stitched out beautifully.

Yesterday we took “Apple Time” to a couple of apple orchards for photos. Of course it began sprinkling as soon as we headed out but we didn’t get too wet. I love photographing quilts on a cloudy day- the images are so bright and show the texture so nicely. The gentleman at Sweetser’s Apple Orchard in Cumberland was truly lovely and was happy to let me take over one of the outside displays. I love this shot with the apples.
Anyway, here she is. She has no purpose except to make me happy. And she is doing that very well. I think she will live in Maine.
I’m not waiting another 6 years to make another quilt just for me!
