Stars Like Confetti Quilt Along Wrap Up

This has been such a fun couple of months. . . but let me start at the beginning.

In August of 2023 I began taking a Quilt Pattern Writing Course. I had already written several quilt patterns but you can always improve. I wrote two quilt patterns during the class- the other has not been published yet and may never be. . . but as I played with this quilt I liked how it was shaping up. I originally pictured it in Red, White and Blue. I am a Military Mom so I often make patriotic quilts because I love my United States of America- warts and all. I am also a country music gal, so listening to Dustin Lynch’s song “Stars Like Confetti” definite3ly influenced my quilt design.

At the same time I was writing this pattern I had a total knee replacement and couldn’t sew at all. That was pretty frustrating. I finally made my two versions of the quilt in January and February of 2024.

For those of you who know me. . . I tend to get an idea and run with it. I decided just before going to teach at QuiltCon that I wanted to do a Quilt Along. I managed to make all the graphics and videos in just a few days and did my best marketing it (I probably should have gotten some help in that department) for the launch that started on March 6. It was a whirlwind. The Quilt Along began on March 15 and ends today.

Several companies big and small in the quilting industry offered prizes with absolutely no strings attached. I was overwhelmed by the generosity of Jane Hauprich of Stitch by Stitch Custom Quilting, Ken Vlodek of The Yardgoods Center, Handi Quilter, Superior Threads, Riley Blake Fabrics and of course some items from Oh Kaye Quilting. The participants have enjoyed their prizes!

As we wrap things up today and award the Grand Prize, the most important thing to me is the beauty that has been brought into this world by a song, an idea, and the creativity of all these quilters. As you watch this slideshow I think you will be amazed at how different the quilt looks with the different colorways and fabric choices. Now that some of the quilts are getting their quilting, that differentiates them even more. I am truly overwhelmed as I watch this and see what everyone has made.

Thank you to all the participants. Although I know many of you, I feel like you have all become my friends throughout this process and I hope to meet you all someday.

For those of you who like this quilt and would like to make it, the pattern is available on http://www.OhKayeQuilting.com in the Shoppe, my Etsy shop (Oh Kaye Quilting), or you may use this link which might be the easiest option. Get STARS LIKE CONFETTI
