Ready for a Glow Up?

Back in 2021 I released the Star Medallion Quilt Pattern and it quickly became a favorite with quilters who love a bold design and a quilt that lets the quilting really shine. Plus. . . I was giving it away for FREE, so that made it popular!
But if you have been hanging around here very long, you know something about me…
I’m always tinkering.
“Hmm… what if we made this even better?”
Sometimes that means experimenting with quilting designs. Sometimes it means trying a new technique. And sometimes it means looking at one of my older patterns and thinking:

So that’s exactly what happened with the Star Medallion.
And that’s not all. . . now there is a Video Tutorial to help you as well!
Same Star… New Attitude
The original version used several shades of blues and grays to build the medallion design as it expanded outward. It worked beautifully, but I don’t want people feeling like they have to make a pattern the same way I do. As far as I am concerned, a pattern is my suggestion.
So the updated version leans right into that idea.
Now you can make the quilt using two favorite colors and let the contrast do all the heavy lifting. Whether you go bold and dramatic or soft and subtle, the star really shines when you choose colors YOU love.
And honestly… it makes fabric choosing a whole lot easier.
(Which means you can get to the fun part faster.)
Bigger Is Better (Especially for Naps)
The other change is size.
The new version is a little bigger, which makes it perfect for those highly productive quilting activities like:
- Afternoon naps
- Couch snuggling
- “Just resting my eyes while I admire my quilt”
You know. Important quilting business.
Built for Quilters Who Love to Quilt
One of the things I love about this pattern is that it leaves plenty of space for quilting.
If you are a longarmer like me, you can really have fun filling those areas with texture and movement. I love the idea of free-motion quilting all those Half-Square Triangles or using computerized quilting to fill them in. Or you can just put a lovely edge to edge design on it and get right to the napping.
Your choice.
A Pattern That Still Encourages Creativity
Even though the pattern has had a bit of a glow up, my favorite part hasn’t changed.
It’s still a pattern that works as a jumping-off point for your own creativity.
Try two bold solids.
Try two prints.
Try a light and a dark.
Or do what quilters do best and break the rules a little.
Because the best quilts always have a bit of the maker’s personality stitched into them.
And I can’t wait to see what you create with the updated Star Medallion Quilt Pattern.
If you want to give it a try, just click the link, fill out the form, and download the pattern. It is as easy as that. It will put you on my newsletter list so you don’t miss out on any of the other fun events I have percolating in my brain!
